SATA controller cannot read exported VMDK disks

Description
I exported a linux system from VirtualBox 3.2.12. And it created ovf and vmdk files.
I attached this vmdk file to SATA controller in VirtaulBox 3.2.12. It worked well, and I could get to this OS.
But when I attached it to VirtualBox 4.0.6. It doesn't find partition table, so I could find /dev/sda only.
After I moved it to IDE controller, I could get the guest OS.
