Invisible files when using Virtual Media Manager

Description
When attempting to add a disk image file for mounting using the Virtual Media Manager, directories are visible and can be navigated, but files are invisible. Playing with views and showing hidden files makes no difference. The filter is set to "...", but changing it makes no difference. Manually copying a filename (in this case, an .iso file) into the filename box and clicking Open successfully adds the file.
My system is an Acer Aspire 4230 laptop running VirtualBox 3.0.8 r53138 under Kubuntu 9.04 as host, with a Windows XP guest. I'm attaching a VBox.log and a screenshot.
I've found one other report of the same problem (http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=17157).
Thanks to you VirtualBox people, generally a great piece of software.
