Screen solution set to 800*600 on XP guest running in OS X

Description
Cannot switch to higher screen resolutions on a XP Pro SP3 machine running on a OS X 10.4.11, the guest add-ons are installed, everything worked fine before XP was shut down, after restarting the machine screen resolution was fixed to 800*600, tried to reinstall the guest add-ons but had no succes, the guest add-on install routine wont start anymore...
