DVD's Created in XP Guest Do Not Play on Standalone DVD player, PS3, etc
Reported by: | choppedliver | Owned by:

Component: | DVD | Version: | VirtualBox 2.0.4 |
Keywords: | dvd copies will not play | Cc:
Guest type: | Windows | Host type: | Linux |
Description (last modified by )
I have a dell quadcore with 6gb or Ram running Ubuntu 8.10 as the host and Windows XP as the guest. I backup my DVD's using slysoft AnyDVD and CloneDVD2.
I also have Windows XP installed as a native OS on a separate partition.
Problem:
Inside the XP guest, with the CDrom passthrough enabled, I can backup my encrypted DVDs using Anydvd (decoded) and Clonedvd2 ( copier).
The resulting DVD copies will not play in my PS3 DVD player, any of 3 other standalone DVD players, external USB dvd player, or two internal Dvd players in two laptops I own.
If I reboot into the NATIVE WINDOWS XP ( NOT A VIRTUAL MACHINE ), I can copy these "unreadable copies" that were created IN THE VIRTUAL MACHINE using the same program ( anydvd, clonedvd2 ) and the resulting "copies of the copies" work fine in every DVD player.
