#22379 new defect
ICMP TTL changed from anything to 64
Reported by: | marcin.bienkowski | Owned by: | |
---|---|---|---|
Component: | network/NAT | Version: | VirtualBox-7.1.8 |
Keywords: | ICMP TTL exceeded | Cc: | marcin.bienkowski |
Guest type: | Linux | Host type: | Linux |
Description
When guest sends an ICMP packet (with some TTL), the host forwards this packet with TTL = 64.
This breaks tools like traceroute -I, i.e., the command "traceroute -I 8.8.8.8" prints just the final host (8.8.8.8).
Same command on the host machine prints actual path.
This worked fine on VirtualBox 6.x.
