Description
Looks like I still have to downgrade to 7.0.14 for fully working USB flash drive support. Windows 10 host, eComStation 1.2 guest.
With newer versions VirtualBox hangs/freezes, for example during a CHKDSK operation or while copying a few "large" files to an USB 2.0 flash drive.
The CHKDSK will start, but (for example) after 31% the system freezes. Using real hardwarde, the CHKDSK can be completed as expected.
So far a full downgrade to 7.0.14 (inclusing the Extension pack) has always avoided the problem.
The cause may be an USB-related change in 7.0.16, IIRC.
I've got no exciting details. Performing CHKDSK /F:2 with a 8 GiB USB flash drive freezes VirtualBox after a while. The best way to reproduce the problem. Copying a few large files (in MB, not GB) may fail too, and perhaps a lengthy format.
The CHKDSK on its own is not related to the problem, albeit a freeze during an earlier COPY operation may have caused the need for the CHKDSK.
I'm mildly suprised the problem still exists, because basicly USB flash drives have stoppes working properly, with possible loss of data.
The USB flash drive itself it supported excellently by both Windows and OS/2/eComSation. The Philips USB flash drive is anything but a "Windows-device", and works fine with real OS/2/eComStation hardware.
