aeichner, is this not even actionable as a long-term goal? What you've stated indicates that the fundamental issues are being remediated in a manner which should (indirectly) support this. Have I misunderstood WONTFIX here? I'm used to Bugzilla.

It means that there are no plans to work on a flatpak by the VirtualBox team. Too many other, higher priority projects are keeping us busy. Again, we accept and appreciate contributions by the community.
Sorry this is not feasible as VirtualBox requires kernel drivers and flatpak doesn't support this currently. VirtualBox has early code to interface with kvm to not require kernel drivers but that is in very early early stages and we don't have the resources to pursue this at the moment. Patches are of course welcome if anyone from the community wants to tackle this and if there are questions we are happy to answer them.
