VirtualBox

#21707 closed defect (fixed)

The VT-x/AMD-V acceleration on/off does not displayed in the status panel => fixed in SVN/next 7.0.x maintenance

Reported by: balti Owned by:
Component: VM control Version: VirtualBox-7.0.8
Keywords: Acceleration, AMD-V, Windows11 Cc: balti
Guest type: Linux Host type: Windows

Description

I turned off the NX Mode, and turned on the SVM Mode in the BIOS. I turned off the Memory integrity in the Windows Defender.

If the Enable nested VT-x/AMD-V setting is off or on, it does not appear on the virtual machine status panel.

I have attached the screenshots and the VM log file.

What status panel are you talking about? Note that the setting you show in the screenshots control whether the VM exposes SVM or VT-x to the guest so one can run another hypervisor inside it. There is no indicator about this in the VirtualBox status bar.

Jesus, the main window is a status panel too. Under the New, Add, Settings, etc. icons. This area is a status panel too with General, System, Display, Storage, Audio, etc. sections. Capisci? If the VT-x/AMD-V setting is turned on, it should appear here in the System section's Acceleration line.

You can keep your cocky attitude to yourself, motivation to evaluate your request will be pretty much non-existant otherwise. My question was meant seriously as I associate "VirtualBox status panel" with the status bar at the bottom of the VM process window and I really didn't know what you were referring to.

Didn't you really understand? The status line is not a status panel. It's clear. The entire right side of the main window is a status panel. You know, here you can see the status of the settings of vm. Finally. Your question wasn't a question, but a condescending answer. Now your passive-aggressive character has turned into an aggressive one. Congratulations, Dude! You don't fix a bug because you didn't understand a basic thing and threaten others. I would fire you immediately.

Guess I can be glad that you are not in the position to fire me then, which would probably be illegal in this case anyway. ;)

First, this is merely a small inconsistency in the GUI which I wouldn't consider major and I'm not a GUI developer, I'll leave fixing that to others.

Second, I didn't meant to be passive aggressive in my first post at all, it was a genuine question as I experienced a lot of confusion in the 15 years working on the project. I tend to ask for clarifcation if anything is unclear to me, especially as I don't assume people to be native English speakers (which I'm not myself btw.).

Written words loose most emotions and one can read a lot of negative things into it which wasn't intended by the author. Next time please don't just assume that someone is passive aggressive because you read that into their text, it will get you a long way.

Hi balti,

We just released a new version of VirtualBox today. This issue should be fixed there. Closing it. Please leave a comment if it is still actual for you. As usual, builds are available on Downloads page. Thank you for reporting.
