Virtualbox 5.2.37 testbuild, Guest Additions Fail To Build Linux 5.5

Using testcase 5.2.37 (135942), while further attempting to troubleshoot https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/19311, I managed to update the Archlinux guest to Linux 5.5 (host is Archlinux 5.5) (the update took several hours with a headless guest that usually takes 2 minutes)

After reboot, attempting to build the new guest additions, the build fails with:

you are trying a Virtualbox version 5.2.37 (135942), that does not support the 5.5 kernel. for more details see:
