Oracle Linux 6 Fail Window Resize with VMSVGA
Reported by: | DonC | Owned by: | |

Component: | guest additions/x11/graphics | Version: | VirtualBox 6.0.14 |
Keywords: | Cc: | ||
Guest type: | Linux | Host type: | Windows |
Description
Running Oracle Linux 6 (4.1.12-124.34.1.el6uek.x86_64) with the VMSVGA Graphics Controller selected does not allow the window to be resized keeping it full screen. Using the old VBoxVGA allows the resize of the window without issue.
The machine log is attached to this report.

This is nothing specifically new in 6.1 I can observe the same behavior already in 6.0.14 (changing the bug to reflect this)
Another workaround, while still using the default VMSVGA graphics controller is:
1)
login
2)
change the screen size
3)
logout (during logout when the login screen is redrawn
by the guests GDM, the window size of the guest finally also
gets adjusted to the new sise

Interesting that I didn't run into that with 6.0.14 (Don't have a 6.0.14 version remaining) but in 6.1.0. In any case, that is a long workaround that helps for now. ;-)
Any idea when it may be fixed?

Switch to VBoxSVGA and it should work. At least it does for me under 6.1
