We need at least a VBox.log of the VM causing the crash and OS X should provide a crash report for the host side crash which is required in order to investigate the issue.

I attached a log for a Kali VM. I set the video memory to 36MB and the install crash (shuts down the mac computer). I then change video memory to 16MB and the install was good.

You need to include the crash report, as asked by 'aeichner'. Also, can you post the output of the command:

kextstat | grep -v com.apple

I uninstall and reinstall and so far the problem seems to be gone.

I also found that it would crash the mac if I enable split screen on my LG 4K monitor.

Please try with the latest release where we fixed some crashes. Please reopen if still relevant and attach a new VBox.log and Apple crash reports for further investigation.
