Multiple copies of shared folders -> fixed after 6.0.4

Description

Hi,

I have statically mapped two shared folders in a Windows 10 guest VM to the E: and F: drives. After some time multiple copies of the shared folders show up as the drives Y: and Z: Sometimes I can still accces the shared folders through the drive letters, sometimes I get an access denied and have to reboot to resolve the error. This is suspend/resume related: when I shutdown the VM, reboot and browse
VBOXSVR the shared folders are only shown once, after a suspend/resume the shared folders are shown twice, after another suspend/resume the shared folders are shown thrice etc. I am running Virtualbox 6.0.2 on Ubuntu 18.04.1.

Regards, Gijsbert

I have a similar issue in 6.02 and 6.04, where I end up with multiple copies of the shared folder showing up, none of them can actually be accessed until the system is restarted. It's very annoying. I've attached a screenshot showing the problem.

Steps for creating the issue:

  1. Power on the guest OS.
  2. The guest OS have one set of duplicate folders and work well.
  3. Save the machine state of the guest OS.
  4. Start from saving the machine state of the guest OS.
  5. The guest OS have two sets of duplicate folders and have access to it.
  6. Save the machine state of the guest OS.
  7. Start from saving the machine state of the guest OS.
  8. The guest OS have three sets of duplicate folders and haven't access to it.

I experience a quite similar problem with a Windows 10 host and Windows 7 guest. I have attached VBoxLogs.zip which contain a screenshot of the Explorer view in the guest and the VBox logfiles for the following six siotuations:

  1. Boot of the virtual machine: all is correct. Then put guest into saved state
  2. Restore from saved state: There two entries in VBOXSVR for each shared folder. Again put guest into saved state
  3. 2nd restore from saved state: the number of entries in VBOXSVR increases. Repeatedly put guest into save state and restore
  4. 6th restore from saved state: no entries in VBOXSVR, no acccess to drives y and Z.
  5. 8th restore from saved state: no entries in VBOXSVR, two drive letters for each shared folder, access to shared folder is possible vie both drive letters
  6. 9th restore from saved state: not possible, see error message in screenshot.

Because of this I will have to go back to version 5.2

I have the same problem on host MacOS.

It seems to be a problem that is not attached to the host OS.
