#18320 new defect

Virtual Hard Disk wizard defaults to file size less than recommended for Ubuntu 18

Description

Using VirtualBox 6.0.0 r127566 (Qt5.6.2) on host Windows 7 SP1 amd64.

I am creating a new VM using the GUI wizard. The Create Virtual Machine wizard detects I am intending to install Ubuntu and set the "Version" to "Ubuntu (64-bit)". The Virtual Hard Disk wizard defaults to a 10GB hard disk.

The download page for Ubuntu 18 (Desktop) at https://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop suggests 25Gb of free hard drive space.

All Ubuntu versions default to the same size, there's no differentiation between the versions. And since Ubuntu 4.10 required a little less than 0.5 GB, 10 GB seems like an overkill, no?

It's up to you, the end user, to "order the computer" according to the specifications.

I think that at best this ticket could be set as a Request For Enhancement (RFE).
