Description
Create a VM (any). Start it. The 1st time run wizard asks you to select a bootable medium:
Please select a virtual optical disk file or a physical optical drive containing a disk to start your new virtual machine from.
Well, you can't select your host's physical optical drive, your only option is "Empty".
You can't select it in the wizard, but you can select it later on in the "Details" pane and in the VM Settings » Storage, no problem there.
Tested on physical OSX 10.11.6, a Win10 VM and a Mint 19 VM. Works as expected with 5.2.20...

Confirmed on Win7-32. I'll take your word that it's fixed on all platforms... ;)
(can't confirm it at the moment)
This seems to have been "Fixed" with 6.0.1 r128018.Scratch that, I may have spoken too soon... The ticket is still open and valid.
