Description

I am not able to install VirtualBox nor 5.0.2 or 5.0.x revision 102467 on my Windows 10 laptop. Previous I updated Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 and all works fine. Now after clean install of Windows 10 i can't use VirtualBox again. I think problem is related to VirtualBox network drivers. I enclose a log file where there is some info:

InstallNetLwf: Installing NetLwf NetLwf is not installed currently NetLwf will be installed ... Installing 1 INF files ... Installing INF file "C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\drivers\network\netlwf\VBoxNetLwf.inf" ... Install failed, hr (0x80070005) VBoxNetCfgWinInstallComponent failed, hr (0x80070005) Installation failed, rolling back installation set ...

Please check if VBox 5.0.4 fixes your problem.

Hi,

The problem still occurs for me in 5.0.10

I'm having the same issue trying to install VirtualBox-5.0.10-104061-Win.exe on Acer laptop. Win10 recently upgraded from Win7.

I've attached my msiexec log.

Resolution: fixed
Status: newclosed

Please reopen if still relevant with VBox 5.0.14 and attach new installer log files in that case. There were significant fixes with the Windows networking driver in VBox 5.0.12.

I have the same issue:

MSI (s) (60:40) [06:08:10:926]: Invoking remote custom action. DLL: C:\WINDOWS\Installer\MSI3E52.tmp, Entrypoint: InstallNetLwf InstallNetLwf: Installing NetLwf NetLwf is not installed currently NetLwf will be installed ... Installing 1 INF files ... CustomAction ca_InstallNetLwf returned actual error code 1603 (note this may not be 100% accurate if translation happened inside sandbox)

OS: Windows 10 (version: 1511, build number: 10586.71) (upgraded from a fresh Windows 8.1 install)

The solution came from: https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=74934

After uninstalling Kaspersky the installation proceeded without any error.

Same error here (VirtualBox 5.0.14, Windows 10 64 bit). I also have Kaspersky (Kaspersky Total Security) and I wouldn't like to remove it in order to install VirtualBox. Some suggestion?

I also have the same issue... Having paid for my anti-virus software (also Kaspersky) I'm not about to ditch that. I can also confirm that pausing the protection or totally quitting it and running as admin is not a fix, even if it were it wouldn't be considered a 'safe' option.
