Description
I've recently upgraded a Windows 8.1 x64 host from v4.3.22 to v4.3.22 and have encountered a mouse capture issue.
When installing a guest, the only way to get the mouse to move is by transferring the mouse device via USB to the guest.
Without this transfer, the mouse can only left-click and right-click but not move. This is true for both my notebook trackpad and external USB mouse.
Once the guest is installed and has the guest additions installed this problem goes away.
If I transfer the mouse to the guest OS via Devices > USB Devices, I can complete the guest install but have to diconnect and reconnect the mouse from the host in order to reuse it with the host again.
Since the upgrade to v4.3.24 I have suffered this will all x64 Linux guests I have installed:
. Evolve-OS-Beta1 . lxle14041 . Peppermint-5-20140623-amd64
My notebook is a HP ProBook 4740S with a Synaptics Touchpad and a Slint GM263 external mouse.

I have also found another work around.
If you turn off mouse integration, it is possible to capture and release the mouse manually using the host key old school style.
Also if the guest has newer integration components in the install media - i.e. Elementary OS Freya - The guest does not display the same symptoms.
It seems to me to be an interaction between older integration components in the guest installation media and the newer Virtualbox.
I have the same issue on Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 host and Windows 7 as client since I've updated to 4.3.24
