#12380 closed defect (obsolete)

high CPU usage during copy-past operation within guest - caused by 2 monitor display

Reported by: Can Bruce Owned by:

Description

My host system is Oracle Linux Server v6.4, my guest is Windows 7 Enterprise (both 64 bit).

In the Windows 7 system, whenever I do a copy-and-paste operation the system acts erratically. For example, when copying and pasting some cells from an Excel file to a Word file (both in the guest), the CPU shoots up to 100% and stays there unless I move my mouse (hover) over the host window. While the CPU is churning, multiple copies of the clipboard material can get pasted at the destination file. Afterwards, pressing Undo also causes a runaway high CPU process and one or more of the extra copies to be removed.

I noticed that switching the monitor count of the guest from 2 monitors to one monitor fixes the problem. If relevant, my graphics adaptor is NVIDIA G98 [Quadro NVS 295].

Guest log file attached.
