#21545 new defect

Audio lost on jack after multiple plug/unplug on Win10 host

Reported by: anapkel Owned by:
Component: audio Version: VirtualBox-7.0.6

Guest type: Windows Host type: Windows

Description

Win10 host, Win10 and Win8.1 guests: same behaviour. PC is laptop: HP 840 G8

After plug/unplug jack headphones audio is lost on the jack headphones.

First plug: ok

First unplug: ok (audio on speakers)

Second plug: no audio on on jack headphones (neither the speakers) but manual switch to headphones on host helps

Second unplug: ok (audio on speakers)

Third plug: no audio on headphones and no way to manage to have it, only restart of VM helps.

After unplug audio on bulit in speakers is always ok.

Perhaps something around duplicated audio management on Win10 host (legacy and new)?

On e.g. Win7 host the same VMs work fine with jack audio plug/unplug.

You can see my VBox 7 ticket for the same topic(#21517), and all the tickets and forum topics from the last 2 years for this subject, which a linked from there.

Hi boxer01, indeed, I could see your tickets and some in the same topic the last few years, and it seems no progress so far... Would be great to have this solved, though it is really annoying to fight with this. In case of a laptop carrying it different places over the day one needs to plug and unplug headphones multiple times and restarting VM all the time is anything but convenient or realistic. Thank you for your comment! anapkel
