VMM Device not compatible to Win 7
Reported by: | Mick_Dundee | Owned by: | |
---|---|---|---|
Component: | VMM | Version: | VirtualBox 4.3.10 |
Keywords: | Win 7, VMM | Cc: | |
Guest type: | Windows | Host type: | Linux |
Description
Win7's problem taskbar info shows the information "Herunterladen von Updates zum Beheben eines Problems bei Virtualbox VMM Device" (see screenshot). The links directs to "Systemsteuerung\Alle Systemsteuerungselemente\Wartungscenter\Meldungsdetails" (subpart of Win system control). There you can make this download: http://dlc.sun.com.edgesuite.net/virtualbox/3.1.2/VirtualBox-3.1.2-56127-Win.exe
Maybe this problem refers to this bug: https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/4841. Sounds at least similar!
There is no crash so i don't add any dump or log.

Sorry, this is nothing we can influence. The correct fix for your problem is to install the VirtualBox Guest Additions, see the user manual.

I do have installed the latest Guest Additions (v4.3.10)!
What do you need for reproducing / influencing of the problem?

I would like to see a VBox.log file of a VM session where you run your guest. And I would like to know if this is a clean Windows 7 installation. I don't care about the outdated version of VirtualBox suggested by Microsoft Windows but I wonder why you see such a notification at all. When did you see this message the first time, right after you installed Windows 7 in a VM or are you using that guest for a longer time and this message started occasionally?

Actually I can't say when it appeared the first time. But the installation isn't old - maybe two weeks. I didn't "install" software yet but have some portable apps (software: PortableApps suite) running. Also I started some remote connections via rdp and transfered files from windows network share to VB host share.
I attached 2 logs, one from a crashed session (see Ticket #12938 for details).
Many thanks in advance.
